Reference issue
Reproduced on
masterat 61a8b0b.What does this implement/fix?
The absolute near-zero check on the unnormalized dot product classified an offset point as on the plane when its normal was small. Divide by the normal length before returning the geometric distance.
Additional information
The regression checks on-plane and off-plane points using unit, reversed and scaled normals. The regression failed on the original implementation and passed after the fix. Tested with Python 3.13.17 and the repository's pinned requirements. The modified module's tests and examples passed, Ruff passed, and the Sphinx HTML build succeeded.
