NMenzel/README.md

Hi, I'm Niklas 👋👾

Senior Software Engineer from Germany focused on fullstack architecture, accessibility, AI-assisted software delivery, and smart engineering systems.

I build maintainable web applications with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt.js, Supabase, Node.js and modern engineering practices. My current focus is using GenAI tools to improve real software delivery without weakening code quality, testing, security, review standards, or team ownership. I also like to experiment & build staff with self-hosted infrastructure on my VPS

🎯 What I focus on

Most of my recent engineering work has happened in private company, client, and business repositories.

I’m currently publishing selected proof-of-work around:

  • Fullstack architecture with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt.js, Supabase and Node.js
  • Clean Code, maintainable architecture, testing, CI/CD, and pragmatic engineering standards
  • AI-assisted development workflows with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, review agents, prompt templates, and documentation assistants
  • Responsible AI usage: human review, clear specifications, test coverage, security awareness, and architectural consistency
  • Accessibility-first engineering based on WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard support, and robust UX patterns
  • Self-hosted infrastructure, automation workflows, bots, and open-source tooling
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals for securing VPS-based infrastructure and self-hosted applications

🛠️ Self-hosted infrastructure

I maintain a private VPS as a practical engineering lab for automation, AI workflows, self-hosted tools, and infrastructure security.

Currently, it includes projects and services such as:

  • n8n for workflow automation and process orchestration
  • HermesBot for personal and project-specific automation workflows
  • Self-hosted open-source software for experimentation, productivity, and infrastructure learning
  • Docker-based deployments and service management
  • Reverse proxy and HTTPS configuration
  • Basic infrastructure hardening for exposed services
  • Access control, environment configuration, backups, and operational monitoring

This setup helps me stay hands-on with automation, infrastructure, deployment workflows, cybersecurity basics, and the operational side of modern software systems. I use AI as an engineering accelerator, not as a replacement for engineering judgment. My work is grounded in clean code, maintainable architecture, explicit quality criteria, and careful review of AI-assisted output.
