Stacked on #76. This PR's base is #76's branch, so the diff shows only this PR's changes. Merge #76 first; GitHub then retargets this PR to main.

Before merging, replace each TODO: Sections URL with the production URL. There are four: the app link, the old-domain redirect, step 1 of setup, and the API example.

Beginning in Spring 2027, one Sections deployment serves every bCourses course. This updates the rest of the sections page, which still described the per-course instances.

Changes to course-software/seamless-learning/sections.md

  • Intro: links the berkeley-cdss/sections repository instead of Cal-CS-61A-Staff, and gives the app's URL (TODO). Says one deployment serves every course beginning Spring 2027, and the old per-course domains (sections.cs61a.org, sections.c88c.org) redirect to the new URL (TODO). Replaces the note that staff can't enroll students, which is no longer true, with a link to the enrollment instructions.
  • Setting up Sections for your course (replaces "Configuring authentication" and "Register your course's sections domain"): log in with bCourses, then Import courses from Canvas, which lists courses where you're a TA or instructor. Also covers what to do if a course isn't listed, and removing a course with ×, which keeps its data.
  • Permissions: roles come from bCourses (instructors and Lead TAs are admins; instructors and TAs are staff). Observers and others can't open the course, and anyone whose enrollment changes must log out and in again.
  • Steps throughout: "Go to your course's sections tool instance" and the separate authorize step become "Log in to Sections and open your course". The admin button Import Enrollment is now Import Students, and that section gains the missing "Click on the Admin page" step.
  • Section customization by staff members: lists what staff can set on their section's card: an introduction (at most 255 characters), a video call link, and an enrollment code for self-enroll sections.
  • API Access: API access now covers every course on the deployment at once, so it's no longer self-service; course staff should contact the maintainers. Links Scope API access to the courses a person is an admin for sections#29, which tracks limiting it to courses you're an admin for. The example request uses the new /offerings/<canvas course id>/api/sudo/<name> path.

Beginning in Spring 2027 one Sections deployment serves every bCourses
course, so the page no longer needs per-course auth.cs61a.org setup,
domain registration or API clients. Describe setting a course up with
"Import courses from Canvas", roles from bCourses, the old domains
redirecting, and API access through the maintainers (see
berkeley-cdss/sections#29). Point to the berkeley-cdss/sections
repository, rename "Import Enrollment" to the button's current
"Import Students", and list what staff can customize on their sections.

The production URL is left as "TODO: Sections URL".
