feat: support overriding HTTP headers and User-Agent (#98) - #99
Enables overriding sent HTTP headers (such as \User-Agent) across CLI commands, Python API functions, and declarative workflows.
Motivation
As reported in #98, certain servers (such as Wikidata and Wikimedia endpoints) require specific HTTP headers (particularly a descriptive \User-Agent) and reject default \python-requests\ clients with \403 Forbidden.
\parse_headers(): converts dicts or iterables of 'Name: Value'\ strings into a clean dictionary (supporting colons in values).
\get_default_headers(): establishes a sensible default \User-Agent: databusclient/, respects the \DATABUS_USER_AGENT\ environment variable, and merges user-supplied headers with case-insensitive User-Agent override handling.
Download Module (\databusclient/api/download.py):
Passes custom headers in \HEAD, redirect \HEAD, and \GET\ requests.
For SPARQL queries, passes custom headers and sets \sparql.agent\ on \SPARQLWrapper.
Propagates \headers\ parameter throughout \download(), _download_file(), _download_files(), _download_version(), _download_artifact(), _download_group(), and _download_collection().
Added \headers\ parameter to \deploy(), \deploy_from_metadata(), _load_file_stats(), and \delete().
CLI (\databusclient/cli.py):
Added -H, --header\ option to \download, \deploy, and \delete\ CLI commands (repeatable, e.g. -H 'User-Agent: MyBot/1.0').
Recorded headers in manifest replay params with sensitive values (\Authorization, \X-API-KEY) automatically redacted.
Workflows (\databusclient/workflow/steps.py):
Added support for \headers\ in declarative workflow YAML steps.
Tests & Documentation:
Added 17 unit and integration tests in \ ests/test_headers.py\ covering header parsing, defaults, env var override, live SPARQL headers, CLI usage, manifest redaction, and workflow step execution.
Updated documentation in \doc/cli-usage.md\ and \doc/module-usage.md.
Verification
Tested against live Wikidata SPARQL endpoint: verified 403 Forbidden with default requests UA vs 200 OK with custom User-Agent.
Full test suite passing: \200 passed, 3 skipped.
Linting clean:
uff check .\ passed with 0 warnings.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added support for custom HTTP headers in deploy, download, and delete operations, including CLI options and workflow configuration.
Added default User-Agent handling and protected sensitive header values when recording them in manifests.
Made download and delete available as package-level imports.
Documentation
Added examples and guidance for using custom headers with downloads.
- Add parse_headers and get_default_headers helpers in utils.py
- Support -H/--header in CLI download, deploy, and delete commands
- Support headers parameter in download(), deploy(), and delete() API functions
- Pass headers in SPARQLWrapper queries and requests calls
- Support headers in declarative workflow steps
- Record sanitized headers in manifest parameters
- Support DATABUS_USER_AGENT env var and default databusclient/<version> User-Agent
- Add comprehensive unit tests in tests/test_headers.py and update docs
The client now accepts optional HTTP headers across download, deploy, and delete APIs. CLI commands and workflow steps pass configured headers to those APIs. CLI manifests mask values for authorization, API-key, and token headers.

Summary
Header parsing and defaults databusclient/api/utils.py, tests/test_headers.py
Header utilities parse dictionaries and Name: Value strings. They apply custom headers and resolve the default User-Agent from the environment or package version. JSON-LD requests use the resolved headers.
The download flow passes custom headers to metadata, SPARQL, checksum, file, and Vault requests. Tests cover JSON-LD, file, and SPARQL requests.
Deploy and delete header support databusclient/api/deploy.py, databusclient/api/delete.py, databusclient/__init__.py
Deploy and delete APIs accept custom headers, and the package exports download and delete. DeleteQueue stores headers but does not forward them during queued execution. deploy_from_metadata accepts headers but does not pass them to deploy.
CLI and workflow integration databusclient/cli.py, databusclient/workflow/steps.py, doc/cli-usage.md, doc/module-usage.md, tests/test_headers.py
CLI commands add repeatable header options, pass parsed headers to API operations, and mask sensitive values in manifests. Workflow steps pass configured headers. Documentation and tests cover header usage.

Possibly related issues
dbpedia/kg-catalog issue 90 reports a Wikidata download failure and identifies User-Agent handling as an investigation area. This change adds custom User-Agent support to download requests.
Group downloads fail outright with a TypeError, and the new header overrides are silently ignored in several download, deploy, and delete paths. Caller-supplied credential headers can also be sent to redirect or token hosts and saved in manifests. These should be fixed before merging.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed files support the header feature in issue [#98]. The tests, documentation, workflow forwarding, manifest redaction, and top-level exports concern the advertised CLI and Python API access for the modified operations. No demonstrated change lacks a connection to that feature.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue [#98] requires a way to override sent HTTP headers. The implementation supports several request paths, but it does not apply headers consistently. DeleteQueue.execute() calls _delete_list() without self.headers, so queued public deletions omit custom headers. Artifact and group deletion also omit headers on recursive and final _delete_resource() calls. deploy_from_metadata() accepts headers but does not pass them to deploy(). The deploy file-stat fallback remains outside the header path because get_file_info() does not receive the headers. These gaps prevent reliable header overrides across the advertised Python API and CLI operations.
Resolution
Pass headers through deploy_from_metadata(), deploy file-stat calculation, DeleteQueue.execute(), and every recursive and final delete call. Add tests that assert custom headers reach queued version, artifact, group, and collection deletions, metadata deployment, and file-stat requests.

Forward stored headers when executing the delete queue.
DeleteQueue stores headers, but execute() does not pass self.headers to _delete_list. Normal deletion queues each URI before issuing its DELETE requests. Those requests therefore never receive CLI, API, or workflow header overrides. Pass headers=self.headers from execute().

Pass headers through recursive artifact and group deletion.
The public delete entrypoint receives headers, but its artifact and group calls omit them. Their JSON-LD fetches consequently lack the configured headers. Their final-resource deletion calls also omit headers. Forward the value through both recursive paths and their final _delete_resource calls.

Pass deploy headers into fallback file-stat requests.
_load_file_stats can use custom headers, but get_file_info calls it without them when a distribution lacks checksum or size data. create_dataset uses that path before the publish request. A protected distribution can therefore fail to deploy even when the caller provided its required header. Thread deploy headers through create_dataset and get_file_info to this fallback request.

Restrict credential headers to trusted download origins.
If a file HEAD response redirects to another origin, the explicit second HEAD sends the original caller headers to that origin. A SPARQL result can likewise supply a file URL that receives those headers. A supplied Authorization or X-API-KEY can therefore leave its intended origin. Check each destination before forwarding sensitive headers, including explicit redirects and file URLs returned by metadata or SPARQL. Based on learnings, credential-bearing requests must reject untrusted redirects or remove sensitive headers before following them.

Do not pass download credentials to the token endpoint.
req_headers contains all caller-supplied download headers, but __get_vault_access__ sends it on both POSTs to auth_url. With a custom Authorization or API-key header, Vault authentication sends that credential to a separate endpoint alongside the token-exchange requests. Construct token-endpoint headers separately; forward a custom User-Agent only when needed.

Forward headers from version and artifact downloads to their files.
Both helpers accept headers for JSON-LD requests, but their _download_files calls omit it. A version or artifact download therefore uses the custom User-Agent for metadata but reverts to the default for every file. Pass headers=headers in both calls.

Add headers to the group-download path.
Every group download now calls _download_group(..., headers=parsed_headers). The shown _download_group signature does not accept headers. This raises TypeError even when the caller supplies no custom headers. Add the parameter and forward it through group metadata, artifact, and file requests.

Honor Accept overrides regardless of header-name casing.
If a caller supplies accept, this check adds a second Accept entry instead of preserving the override. The collection-query helper has the same check, and deploy and file-download requests use similar exact-case checks. Compare header names case-insensitively wherever a default is inserted.

Do not persist arbitrary header values in manifests.
The CLI accepts any header, but this mask covers only authorization, x-api-key, and token. A caller who uses Cookie, Proxy-Authorization, or X-Auth-Token writes that credential into the manifest. The download and delete commands repeat this behavior. Record only explicitly approved, non-sensitive headers, or omit header values from replay parameters.
