feat(pluginkit): skip a plugin's migrations when its recorded version is current - #123
NewHostWithMigrationStore(store, migratorOf, plugins...) returns a host whose Migrate reads every recorded migration version once, skips each plugin whose version is the recorded one, and migrates then records the others. Start uses the same Migrate.
MigrationStore is what the application implements: Versions reads every recorded version in one call, and Record saves one.
MigrationVersioner is an optional interface beside Migrator. MigrationVersion() (string, error) reports a plugin's schema version as an opaque string, and an empty one is refused.
MigratorOf, an optional lookup, gives the host the Migrator of a plugin that ships its schema as data. With none, the plugin's own Migrate applies.
A pull request job runs gremlins in diff mode on pluginkit.
Why
A downstream application measured about 6.8 ms per plugin to ask a current plugin to migrate, so 200 plugins spend about 1.4 s on every boot doing nothing. With one read of a store, a boot asks only the plugins whose schema changed.
NewHost keeps its signature, behaviour, error texts and panic. A Migrator with no version still migrates on every boot, under either host.
The mutation job sets diff.relative, diff.noprefix=false and diff.context=0 for git. Without the first two, gremlins inside a nested module matches no changed file and skips every mutant. Without the third, it reads the wrong changed lines from a hunk. The job first checks that each changed file name exists from pluginkit, so that mistake fails the job instead of passing it. A pull request that changes no Go source gets a dry run, which still checks the config.
Testing
11 new tests, 28 cases in all, cover every path through Migrate on a store host: a skip, a changed or unseen version, one store read, no version, a plugin that is no Migrator, a lookup that answers or not, the caller's context reaching the store and each migrator, and each failure and panic with its exact text.
Every existing test passes unchanged, and NewHost's panic text is pinned.
gremlins in diff mode killed every mutant on the changed lines.
go test -race with 100.0% coverage in the root package, lint clean, no function above 10 on cyclop.

Walkthrough
The host adds optional version-aware migration storage and migrator lookup. It skips migrations for plugins whose recorded version is current and records versions after migration. A new pull-request workflow runs Gremlins against changed pluginkit Go files.

Summary
Migration contracts and host setup pluginkit/pluginkit.go, pluginkit/host.go, pluginkit/store_test.go, pluginkit/CHANGELOG.md
Adds MigrationVersioner, MigrationStore, and MigratorOf. The host gains optional migration dependencies and a constructor that rejects a nil store or duplicate plugin IDs. Constructor tests and changelog entries describe these additions.
Migration selection and version recording pluginkit/host.go, pluginkit/store_test.go
Migrate reads stored versions, selects migrators, skips matching versions, and records versions after migration. Tests cover selection, errors and panics, context propagation, Start, and behavior without a store.
Adds pull-request mutation analysis for changed non-test Go files under pluginkit. The workflow uses dry-run mode when no such files change and conditionally uploads the report. Gremlins configuration sets workers, output statuses, exclusions, and enabled mutant types.

The new migration-store path skips unchanged plugin migrations at boot. If an application-supplied store read or migrator lookup panics, the panic escapes the host instead of becoming a plugin-attributed error, unlike the other callbacks. This only affects buggy application callbacks and is easy to fix. Wrap both calls in the existing panic containment before or soon after merge.

Explanation
The title "feat(pluginkit): skip a plugin's migrations when its recorded version is current" matches the main change. The PR adds NewHostWithMigrationStore, which reads recorded migration versions and skips plugins whose versions match. The title names the scope (pluginkit) and the core behavior. It does not mention the new interfaces, the MigratorOf lookup, or the CI mutation workflow, but the changeset does not need every detail covered.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The implementation satisfies the coding requirements in [#122]. MigrationVersioner, MigrationStore, and MigratorOf are defined in pluginkit/pluginkit.go. NewHostWithMigrationStore reads Versions once per migration, skips matching versions, migrates changed or unseen versions, and records successful migrations in pluginkit/host.go. Migrators without versions still run on every boot. Start calls the same Migrate path. NewHost keeps its signature and duplicate-ID panic text. pluginkit/store_test.go covers the migration, lookup, error, context, and Start paths.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The migration implementation, its tests, and the changelog support [#122]. The new .github/workflows/mutation.yml and pluginkit/.gremlins.yaml configure Gremlins mutation analysis. They do not implement or test the migration-store behavior requested by [#122]. These CI changes are unrelated to the linked issue scope.
Resolution
Remove the Gremlins workflow and configuration from this pull request, or move them to a separate pull request focused on mutation-testing infrastructure.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 16 functions across 3 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Cancel obsolete mutation runs.
When a pull request receives another commit, the earlier Gremlins run can continue testing obsolete code. Add a pull-request concurrency group with cancel-in-progress: true to release that runner for the current revision. GitHub Actions supports this setting. (docs.github.com)

Add job-level concurrency settings to the pluginkit job, grouping runs by pull
