SCP-4424 (?)
SCP-4424 refers to a series of events involving a mysterious replacement train and its crew. When certain conditions are met, a regular passenger train will stop due to technical issues, and a new train, SCP-4424-2, will emerge from a tunnel to take its place, mimicking the original train's appearance and schedule. Passengers who board SCP-4424-2, along with the train itself, disappear without a trace once it enters a tunnel. The train is operated by six humanoid entities, SCP-4424-3, who wear train employee uniforms and are cheerful, but have no understanding of human needs like food or water, leading passengers to eventually "stop" moving.
2005 Connecticut false evacuation alert (?)
On February 1, 2005, Connecticut experienced a false Emergency Alert System (EAS) activation that incorrectly called for an immediate, statewide evacuation. This error occurred during a planned test when an employee accidentally entered the wrong code, broadcasting an evacuation order instead of a test message. Despite the urgent nature of the alert, most residents who received it did not evacuate; studies showed that people primarily reacted by changing channels to seek confirmation, looking outside, or consulting neighbors, with only a small percentage attempting to leave the state. The public's lack of response was largely due to the broadcast not specifying a threat or a particular area, and the absence of observable signs of an actual emergency.
