Tracked links redirect visitors to their original destinations while recording clicks, including repeat clicks. Redirects use a temporary response and avoid caching; invalid or unresolved tracking requests return a 404.
Campaign message settings can be updated and retrieved, including click tracking, campaign tags, notification addresses, and excluded lists. Updates can change selected settings without overwriting omitted ones.
Bug Fixes
Invalid notification addresses and excluded-list selections are rejected when updating campaign settings.
Adds a public GET /lt endpoint that records campaign-link clicks and redirects to the tracked URL. Adds a PATCH endpoint for campaign message-data settings, with request validation, persistence, and normalized responses. The pull request also changes the required PHP version to 8.2, updates the phplist/core requirement to dev-dev, and configures the CI and documentation workflows to use PHP 8.2.
phpList/rest-api#165: Both PRs change the phplist/core Composer requirement to dev-dev; PR #165 adds open tracking, while this PR adds link-click tracking.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 5d072

Explanation
The title "Dev" is a generic branch name, not a description of the change. It does not identify the main change. The PR adds a link-tracking controller, a campaign message-data endpoint, DTOs, a normalizer, tests, and moves the PHP requirement to ^8.2. The title is vague and non-descriptive, so the check is inconclusive.
Resolution
Replace the title with a short, specific summary of the main change. For example: "Add campaign message-data endpoint and link click tracking controller". Mention the PHP 8.2 requirement only if it is a main goal of the PR.

Add the status and Location checks after the text-token request.
Nothing checks the response to the T request. testSecondClickIncrementsTheCounters asserts only the counters, while testClickRedirectsToTheOriginalUrlAndIsRecorded checks the 303 status and Location for the H request. This test's forward link is created with https://example.org/landing, so that is the expected Location. Without these assertions, a change to the text-link redirect would not fail this test.

Cover signed-link rejection in the link track tests.
No test sends a valid tid with a missing or wrong hm. The happy-path tests send a bare tid and expect a 303. The invalid-request cases use malformed or unknown tokens. A change that stops checking hm in LinkClickService::trackClick() would not fail any test in this file. Add cases that send a valid tid with no hm and with a wrong hm, with signed-link mode enabled in the test configuration. Assert the rejection status that the signed-link check returns, and assert that no Location header is set. Enabling signed-link mode depends on core configuration, which this repository does not define.

Add signed-link rejection coverage alongside invalidRequestProvider for a valid
tid with hm omitted and with an incorrect hm; assert the status returned by the
signed-link check and that no Location header is set. Use the repository’s
established core-configuration mechanism to enable signed-link mode for these
cases, first identifying how that setting is provided rather than assuming an
undefined configuration API; preserve existing bare-tid happy-path expectations
outside signed-link mode.

Return a 500 when the click flush fails.
The catch (Throwable $e) block also wraps $this->entityManager->flush(). A storage failure during the flush returns Not found with HTTP 404, the same response as an invalid token. Clients and monitoring then read a storage outage as a missing link. Handle the flush in its own block that returns 500. The invalid-token 404 stays unchanged.
The trackClick failure path is also unchanged. Whether that call throws on a storage failure depends on LinkClickService, which this repository does not include. This change corrects only the status code. Campaign links still do not redirect during a storage outage.
Suggested fix
try {
$url = $this->linkClickService->trackClick($token, $signature, $metadata);
- $this->entityManager->flush();
} catch (Throwable $e) {

Separate the `entityManager->flush()` call in `LinkTrackController` from the
`trackClick()` try/catch, so flush failures return HTTP 500 while `trackClick()`
failures continue to return the existing 404. Preserve the current behavior that
campaign links do not redirect when storage fails.

Cover negative exclude_lists IDs in the unit tests.
UpdateMessageDataRequest::$excludeLists applies Assert\Positive() to each element. No unit test validates an excluded-list element, so removing Positive() would not fail the suite. Add a case for [-1] that expects one violation.
ListExists also runs on each element. Its validator needs a repository, so the test replaces it with a no-op validator. The count then covers only the element constraints.

Add a unit test alongside testOnlyTheFieldsThatWereSentAreReturned in the
UpdateMessageDataRequest tests that sets excludeLists to [-1] and asserts
exactly one validation violation. Configure the test validator to replace
ListExists with a no-op so the assertion measures element constraints without
requiring a repository; retain the real validators for other constraints so
removing Positive still causes the test to fail.

The validator removes empty comma segments before it runs Assert\Email. As a result, , and admin@example.com, pass validation, and getDto() stores the raw value. The field is documented as "Email addresses, separated by a comma", so an empty segment does not match the documented format. Report a violation for empty segments. Reject non-object JSON bodies with a 400 response.
A body such as true, false, 123, or "text" decodes to a scalar. array_merge() at RequestValidator.php:39 then throws a TypeError outside the existing try blocks. Add test coverage for the failed flush branch in trackLinkClick.
The try/catch around $this->entityManager->flush() at src/Statistics/Controller/LinkTrackController.php:93-97 logs a storage failure and continues to the redirect. No test in tests/Integration/Statistics/Controller/LinkTrackControllerTest.php makes flush() throw. A change to this branch can pass the existing suite.
Add an integration test that replaces EntityManagerInterface with a double whose flush() throws. Assert the response for that request. Also assert that the Failed to store link click error is logged with the exception.

Return a 500 when a dependency fails during click tracking.
Any exception from trackClick() returns 404 Not found. A failed lookup or write on a valid link looks like an unknown link to the visitor and to status monitoring. The OpenAPI attribute already documents a 500 for storage failures, so return that status for these exceptions and keep 404 for a null result.
