Description

On first load, the organization profile Members, Invitations and Requests tabs now show three skeleton rows instead of a spinner. This follows the pattern from #10288 (API keys table).

  • While isLoading is set, each table renders placeholder rows from a PLACEHOLDER_* const at the bottom of its view. These sit inside SkeletonContext.Provider, and Table.Body gets aria-hidden plus inertProps(true).
  • Text cells and avatars are wrapped in Skeleton. Row actions (the Manage menu, Accept/Decline) are wrapped in <Skeleton visible={false}> so they keep their space without a bone.
  • Members: while loading, the role cell is a plain text bone, never a role picker. Badges (You / Deprovisioned / Banned) are left out. To keep MemberRow under the complexity limit, the badge and role cells moved into MemberBadge and MemberRole.
  • Requests keeps the existing condition isLoading || (isFetching && requests.length === 0).
  • Each tab has one always-mounted VisuallyHidden role='status' that reads Loading …, then the new … loaded message (Members loaded, Invitations loaded, Requests loaded).
  • The error state only renders when not loading, and the empty state never shows while loading.
  • Invitations and Requests now use Entity for the user cell instead of Item, matching Members. Their rows go from 77px to 63px.
  • Avatar bones use shape='pill' to match the circular avatar.
  • Swingset: panel stories now fill the preview frame, like Sections, so the panel width doesn't change between loading and loaded.
  • Swingset: a new Loading story with a Reload button that fakes a 2 second load, plus a ### Loading section in the mdx.

Skeleton vs loaded row heights, measured in the swingset Loading story:

Tab Skeleton rows Loaded rows
Members 63, 63, 62.5 px 63 ×9, 62.5 px
Invitations 63, 63, 62.5 px 63 ×9, 62.5 px
Requests 63, 63, 62.5 px 63 ×9, 62.5 px

Not changed: the panel's permission gate, and loading on page change or search. Both still keep stale rows and set aria-busy.

Open questions:

  • Table.SelectCell can't be wrapped in Skeleton. When bulk actions are on, the checkbox column stays real while loading. It is hidden from assistive tech and inert, but it is still drawn. Is that acceptable, or should Table.SelectCell get skeleton support?
  • On first load the toolbar, search, Invite button and column headers stay real controls rather than bones, as in feat(mosaic): show skeleton rows while the API keys table first loads #10288. Should any of them be bones?
  • Loaded Members role cells are a ghost Select, but the skeleton shows a text bar. Row heights match. Is the different shape fine?

📝 Walkthrough

The members, invitations, and requests tables now display skeleton rows and announce loading and loaded states. Their tests cover loading transitions and loading controls. A new Storybook example demonstrates the loading states, and the fillsFrame utility now recognizes the Panels navigation category.

Do not announce “Invitations loaded” after a failed request.

When the initial invitations request fails, isLoading becomes false and the always-mounted role='status' announces m.loaded while the error branch renders m.loadError in an alert. Assistive-technology users therefore receive a successful-load announcement with the failure message. Add the error condition to this invitation status expression. This is a separate edit from the members status expression; do not change the existing empty-state condition.

Suppress the loaded announcement on member-load errors.

When the initial members request fails, MembersTableBody renders m.loadError in an alert after loading ends. The always-mounted status still announces m.loaded, which reports a successful load to assistive-technology users.

Do not announce “Requests loaded” after a failed fetch.

When the initial request fetch fails, skeleton becomes false while isError remains true. The status region then announces m.loaded (“Requests loaded”) while RequestsTableBody announces m.loadError (“Unable to load requests”) in an alert. Suppress the loaded message on the error path while preserving the Requests-specific skeleton condition.
