What was done?
Snapshot tests, light and dark, in a separate package SnapshotTests/ (swift-snapshot-testing exact: "1.19.6", the newest release older than two weeks):
DashButton (all 11 styles × 4 sizes, enabled and disabled; icons; full width), MenuItem (text rows, toggle / button / selection, balances, disabled), Toast (all styles but the animated .loading), SwitchView, NavigationBar, BottomSheet (header; close disabled, blocked dismissal, blocked dismissal with onClose) and SheetFeature, SearchBar, TransactionView. 26 tests, 52 images, 402 pt at 3×, at the Large text size. Public API only.
Why a separate package: the library's Package.swift does not change, so dashwallet-ios resolves nothing new and the root build / API jobs fetch nothing new.
Pinned versions.SnapshotTests/Package.resolved is the file Xcode 26.6 (CI) writes and pins every package CI builds: swift-snapshot-testing 1.19.6, swift-custom-dump 1.7.3, xctest-dynamic-overlay 1.13.1, swift-syntax 604.0.0. The resolve step fails when the file is not what the CI Xcode resolves (a version change, or any edit to SnapshotTests/Package.swift) and prints the file to commit. A local Xcode 27 resolves differently (it names swift-issue-reporting 2.x instead of xctest-dynamic-overlay) and rewrites the file; that change is not committed. The package clones are cached per Xcode version.
CI vs local rendering. Xcode 26.6 on CI and Xcode 27 locally render text and symbols differently, so the references are rendered and compared only on the CI simulator. ReferenceEnvironment names it: the simulator runtime's version and build (26.5 (23F77)), an iPhone, left-to-right text, and how the locale writes 1234.5. The device model is not part of it (width and scale are fixed); CI runs on the iPhone 17 simulator by name. Anywhere else the tests are skipped with a message; on CI a mismatch fails (SNAPSHOT_REQUIRE_REFERENCE_ENVIRONMENT=1), and so does a run whose last Executed … tests line reports no tests or a skipped one. Tolerance: every pixel checked, ΔE ≤ 2 (perceptualPrecision: 0.98).
Recording is one command. The new job Snapshot tests (iOS Simulator) renders the PR head (the job summary says so) with SNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORD=failed: a missing or changed reference is rewritten and the test still fails; the job uploads the whole __Snapshots__ folder as the artifact snapshots when something was re-recorded. .github/scripts/fetch-snapshots.sh takes the newest finished run of HEAD whose snapshot job ran, refuses on uncommitted changes, and swaps the folder in after the download; review, commit, push.
Only CI records. Without SNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORD the helper passes record: .never, so a local SNAPSHOT_FORCE=1 run never writes a reference.
DashButtontintedWhite / plainWhite: their light and dark images are identical today, but every colour involved has its own dark variant in the catalog, so the dark reference stays as the guard on those.
Docs: docs/snapshot-tests.md, a section in CLAUDE.md, a link in docs/README.md.
Not a required check. No ruleset change; whether to require it is Roman's call.
No Dynamic Type snapshot: type tokens are fixed Font.system(size:), so a larger size renders the same pixels.
Merged since this PR opened:#31 (SearchBar), re-recorded here; #32 and #41 changed no covered pixels. Still in flight and needing a re-record if they move pixels:#43 (deprecated APIs), #44 (BottomSheet) and the open component PRs. For each: merge master, push, wait for the red snapshot job, run .github/scripts/fetch-snapshots.sh, check the images, commit.
How Has This Been Tested?
Locally (Xcode 27.1):
iOS 27.0 simulator: every snapshot test is reported as skipped, with the environment message.
iOS 26.5 (23F77) iPhone 17 Pro simulator, no override: the 24 tests compare against the references CI rendered on an iPhone 17 and pass, so a local Xcode 27 with the iOS 26.5 runtime can run the suite.
On that simulator, a +1 pt change to DashButton's large horizontal padding fails the DashButton tests against the CI references; reverted.
SNAPSHOT_FORCE=1 with a reference removed: the test fails with "New snapshot was not recorded because recording is disabled", and no image is written.
fetch-snapshots.sh run against this PR's real runs: on 0d8ed86 it installed the recorded set; on 048d516 it reported that the snapshot job passed and there was nothing to fetch.
conventions.sh, shellcheck and actionlint clean; /code-review high until only small findings remained, all fixed.
On CI (this PR): the first run recorded all 48 images on iOS 26.5 (23F77), iPhone 17, and failed as designed; fetch-snapshots.sh installed them (048d516), and the next run compared all 24 tests with no skips and passed. The resolve guard failed once as designed and printed the Xcode 26.6 Package.resolved, which is now committed. Not exercised on CI: a deliberate visual change failing the job (verified locally against the CI references).
Things the images show that this PR does not change: strokeGray button text is nearly invisible in dark, the SearchBar placeholder is very faint in dark, the grouped-set icon in TransactionView is white on the light background, and the info navigation button looks clipped on its trailing edge.
Before / After
No visual change (refactor, tests, docs). Say why in "What was done?".
Tests, CI and docs only: nothing under Sources/ and no package manifest of the library changes.

Snapshot tests for DashButton, MenuItem, Toast, SwitchView, NavigationBar,

Walkthrough
This change adds a standalone Swift snapshot-test package, visual snapshots for DashUIKit components, CI execution on a fixed simulator environment, and scripts to retrieve changed snapshot references. It also adds documentation for running tests and maintaining reference images.
Changes: Snapshot testing
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Snapshot package and assertion support SnapshotTests/Package.swift, SnapshotTests/Tests/DashUIKitSnapshotTests/SnapshotSupport.swift
The package declares its platforms and dependencies. Shared support checks the reference environment and configures light and dark snapshot assertions.
Snapshot tests cover BottomSheet, DashButton, MenuItem, NavigationBar, SearchBar, SwitchView, Toast, and TransactionView states and variants.
CI execution and simulator selection .github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/scripts/pick-simulator.sh
CI checks out the tested revision, runs snapshot tests on an iPhone 17 simulator, and uploads changed references after failed tests. The simulator script can select an exact device name.
Reference retrieval and guidance .github/scripts/fetch-snapshots.sh, .gitignore, CLAUDE.md, docs/README.md, docs/snapshot-tests.md
The fetch script validates the working tree and CI artifact before replacing local snapshot references. The documentation describes the test environment and reference workflow.

9 non-blocking recommendations
The committed Package.resolved is not what CI builds —
— the file pins swift-issue-reporting 2.1.2; the CI log of this head resolves and builds xctest-dynamic-overlay 1.13.1 instead, so that pin is ignored and the package floats within swift-custom-dump's range. The comment "The pins in it still apply",
Package.resolved committed: the versions CI starts from
and the PR body ("works with -onlyUsePackageVersionsFromResolvedFile", removed in a later commit) overstate it. swift-snapshot-testing itself does stay at 1.19.6 through its exact pin. Either commit a Package.resolved written by the CI Xcode, or say plainly that only the direct dependency is pinned. (verified in the CI log)
— the key hashes only Package.resolved, while the comment below it says Xcode versions name the same package differently. After select-xcode moves, the new Xcode restores clones saved by the old one, and the save step is skipped on a hit. Add the Xcode version (or the runner image) to the key.
The model pin depends on how the runner lists devices —
— the picker takes the last iPhone of the runtime; a runner image that adds or reorders iPhones fails the job on every PR before anything renders. Rendering does not depend on the model (width and scale are fixed), so either pick the device by name in the snapshot job or drop model from the check.
— testTintedWhite and testPlainWhite render on a fixed blue background, and their light and dark PNGs are byte-identical (same md5). The dark pass adds no coverage there; drop it for those two or render them on a scheme-dependent background. (verified)
— it only bypasses the environment check; with no record mode set, swift-snapshot-testing's default records missing references from the local simulator, which CLAUDE.md says must never be committed. Default the record mode to .never unless SNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORD is set. (library default not verified at runtime)
A green snapshot check says nothing about the merge —
The job renders the branch, not its merge with `master`. After `master` changed a component
your branch also renders, merge `master`, push, and run step 2 again before merging; else
the snapshot job fails on `master` after the merge, and the fix is a follow-up PR that
fetches that run's references. Delete the references of a removed test by hand.
). Two PRs that each re-record a shared component can both be green and break master together. A line in the job summary when the base moved since recording would make it visible.
: only the newest run of HEAD is considered, so a cancelled or still-running later run hides a valid earlier artifact (the error does say to pass a run id).
if [ -n"$(git -C "$root" status --porcelain --untracked-files=all -- "$dest")" ];then
echo"${dest#"$root"/} has uncommitted changes; commit or discard them first:">&2
git -C "$root" status --short --untracked-files=all -- "$dest">&2
exit 1
fi
sha=$(git rev-parse HEAD)
: only __Snapshots__ must be clean, so references for HEAD can be committed together with uncommitted code that renders differently.
Guard against an all-skip run — xcodebuild exits 0 when every test is skipped. Today the TEST_RUNNER_ forwarding makes a mismatch fail, but if that forwarding ever breaks the job would pass with 24 skips. A check on the executed-test count closes it. The job also has no paths filter, so docs-only PRs spend a macOS runner on it (efficiency only).
PR description is out of date — it says ReferenceEnvironment checks "iOS major.minor and how the locale writes 1234.5"; the code checks runtime version and build, model, number format and text direction (
/// The CI simulator's model (`SIMULATOR_MODEL_IDENTIFIER`).
staticletmodel="iPhone18,3"
/// Amounts are formatted with `Locale.current`; this is 1234.5 in the
/// reference locale's separators.
staticletnumber="1,234.5"
/// Leading and trailing swap in a right-to-left language.
staticletrightToLeft=false
). The -onlyUsePackageVersionsFromResolvedFile claim is stale too (see 1).
Review details
Tier: normal (tests, CI and docs; nothing under Sources/, library manifest unchanged). Levels 1–3 inline. Level 4: the general lane (/code-review high) and a CI / security / test-reliability lane (workflow permissions and triggers, action pinning, artifact contents, the fetch script's run and attempt selection, the environment gate, record mode, tolerance, nondeterminism, docs vs code), with the CI log of run 41211475492 for this head. Verified by hand: recommendation 1 against the log and the committed Package.resolved, recommendation 4 by checksum. Dropped: a suggestion to use foregroundStyle in the tests (the library itself still uses foregroundColor until #28 lands) and the floor note in CLAUDE.md, which is accurate.
…drop the model pin
Closes the bot recommendations on the snapshot job: the resolve step fails
when Package.resolved is not what the CI Xcode writes and prints the file;
the clone cache is keyed per Xcode; the job fails on a run with no or skipped
tests and notes that it renders the PR head; the environment check no longer
includes the iPhone model; references are written only when
SNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORD is set; the two DashButton white styles render once;
fetch-snapshots.sh skips cancelled or running runs, swaps the folder in after
the download, and refuses on uncommitted changes.

— the second git status --untracked-files=all -- Sources SnapshotTests lists modified tracked files too, so a SnapshotTests/Package.resolved rewritten by a local Xcode 27 still refuses the fetch. The header and https://github.com/dashpay/DashUIKit/blob/6bb10d6f686440f755996d4294cc4d6addecc0ef/docs/snapshot-tests.md say it is ignored. Add ':!SnapshotTests/Package.resolved' to the second command as well, or filter it out of $changes. (reproduced in a clone at this head)

— the loop accepts the newest run whose snapshot job ended failure / success, even if that run uploaded no snapshots artifact (for example, one that failed at the new resolve check). An older run of the same SHA that did record is never tried. Checking for the artifact before accepting a candidate would fix it.
— [ -z "${job+x}" ] treats "set" as "found by the loop", so a job variable exported in the caller's shell skips the lookup on the explicit run-id path. Assign job=$(snapshot_job "$run") in that branch and drop the sentinel. Defining snapshot_job before the loop would also remove the duplicated jq query.
— width and the displayScale trait are fixed, but code that reads the device's screen (UIScreen.main.bounds / .scale, for example in a bottom sheet) still differs on a shorter or 2x iPhone. CI is safe because it pins iPhone 17; a local run on another iPhone passes the check and then fails. Putting screen size and scale in ReferenceEnvironment would pin exactly what rendering reads. (not verified for a covered component)
`Package.resolved` pins every package in the graph, including swift-syntax and the other
packages swift-snapshot-testing brings in. Xcode versions write it differently (Xcode 27 calls
one package `swift-issue-reporting` where Xcode 26.6 still resolves `xctest-dynamic-overlay`),
so the committed file is the one the CI Xcode writes. The job fails when the file is not what
it resolves, and prints the file to commit. Any edit to `SnapshotTests/Package.swift` (a
version, the platform floor, even a comment) changes a hash in the file, so it needs the
— Xcode 26.6 and 27 resolve different major versions (xctest-dynamic-overlay 1.13.1 vs swift-issue-reporting 2.1.2), not one package under two names. So a local Xcode 27 run builds against another dependency graph. Saying that helps anyone debugging a local-only failure.
Small cleanups: the status != completed check after the loop is dead on the auto-select path. The tracked-file check covers the whole repo, while only Sources/, SnapshotTests/ and Package.swift affect what is rendered.
Review details
Re-review of the bot review on 048d516. The new diff is six commits (5b5e36d…6bb10d6) across the CI job, fetch-snapshots.sh, pick-simulator.sh, SnapshotSupport.swift, Package.resolved and the docs. Levels 1–3 re-checked inline, against #42 and the PR body. Level 4 used the general lane (/code-review high) on the new commits, which reproduced item 1 in a clone. The verifier read fetch-snapshots.sh at this head for item 1 and confirmed that the CI run of this head is green.
The SearchBar typed text now uses the design-system text style, so its
light and dark references change. Rendered by CI run 41246506193 and
installed with fetch-snapshots.sh.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The only change of this PR's own since the last bot review is 2c4c99b, the SearchBar references re-recorded for #31's typed-text style. That re-record is expected now that #31 has merged. The rest of the range is master merged in (#31, #32, #41), which the bot reviewed on those PRs. All checks are green at this head, including Snapshot tests (iOS Simulator) against the new references
The workflow the PR describes worked here as intended: master moved a covered component, the snapshot job went red, and the references were fetched and committed.
6 non-blocking recommendations (from the last review, still open)
The Package.resolved exclusion in fetch-snapshots.sh does not take effect —
— the second git status lists modified tracked files too, so a locally rewritten SnapshotTests/Package.resolved still refuses the fetch.
Then warn about the rewritten file before the final "review and commit" message.
The auto-select can stop on a run without a snapshots artifact, instead of trying an older run of the same SHA.
A job variable exported in the shell skips the snapshot-job lookup on the explicit run-id path.
Screen size and scale belong in ReferenceEnvironment, rather than "any iPhone renders the same pixels".
The docs on the two Xcode dependency graphs (different major versions, not one package under two names).
Details and permalinks are in the bot review on 6bb10d6.
Review details
Re-review of the bot review on 6bb10d6. The range since then is master (#31, #32, #41) merged twice, plus 2c4c99b, which changes only the two SearchBar PNGs. Following the re-review rule, level 4 was re-checked inline: the changed files list, the re-record commit and the green snapshot job. No lane was re-run for two reference images.
Add a merge-result check for snapshot references the PR adds.
The snapshot job renders only the PR head, so the PR passes even when master later changes a component the PR also renders. The failure needs one more condition: the PR must add or re-record a reference image for that component. If the merge brings in that reference, the merged master run compares the new master code against the PR's older image and fails. The documented manual step (merge master, push, and re-run the fetch) prevents this, but no job enforces it.
Consider a job that runs on pull_request, checks out refs/pull/<n>/merge, and runs the comparison without recording. It would fail the PR before merge.

Cover the dismissal-disabled close button on its own.
testCloseButtonDisabled also sets isCloseButtonEnabled: false, which disables the close button regardless of isDismissalEnabled. A regression that stops isDismissalEnabled from disabling the close button would leave this snapshot passing. The unit tests in BottomSheetDismissalActionTests check the return value of isCloseButtonActive, not the rendered disabled state.
Add a snapshot where only isDismissalEnabled is false. isCloseButtonEnabled keeps its default of true, and no onClose is passed. The close button then renders disabled only because of isDismissalEnabled.

…resolved out of the fetch check
- assertComponentSnapshots sets .dynamicTypeSize(.large) on the framed view, so a
simulator's text size changes neither the measured height nor the render.
- BottomSheet gets a reference where only isDismissalEnabled disables the close button.
- fetch-snapshots.sh leaves SnapshotTests/Package.resolved out of both status checks.

…th onClose
testCloseButtonDisabled now disables only isCloseButtonEnabled, and a new
reference shows the live close button of a sheet that blocks the swipe but
has onClose. The fetch script header and the docs say what is left out.

BottomSheetSnapshotTests, close button disabled by isDismissalEnabled alone: added in 7f117bb (testDismissalDisabledOnly). While at it, 6e0bd3c gives each close-button snapshot one input: testCloseButtonDisabled now disables only isCloseButtonEnabled, and testDismissalDisabledWithOnClose shows the close button staying live when the sheet blocks the swipe but has onClose. The references come from this PR's CI run.
A merge-result snapshot job: not adding it. A second simulator job on refs/pull/<n>/merge would double the slowest job on every PR to catch one case: master changes a component whose reference the PR also adds or re-records. The PR description and docs/snapshot-tests.md cover that case with a manual step (merge master, push, re-record), and if it slips, the next master run fails on that component and points at it. The repository-level alternative, requiring branches to be up to date before merging, is a ruleset decision for the maintainers rather than part of this PR.

Brings in dashpay/DashUIKit#40 (snapshot tests, no runtime change), #43 (deprecated
SwiftUI idioms, no visual change), #46 (DashButtonStyle.tintedRed; the app has no
switch over DashButtonStyle) and #48 (navigationbar-* accessibility identifiers on
the bar buttons, which BuyReceiveFlowUITests looks up).

Snapshot tests, light and dark, in a separate package
SnapshotTests/(swift-snapshot-testingexact: "1.19.6", the newest release older than two weeks):DashButton(all 11 styles × 4 sizes, enabled and disabled; icons; full width),MenuItem(text rows, toggle / button / selection, balances, disabled),Toast(all styles but the animated.loading),SwitchView,NavigationBar,BottomSheet(header; close disabled, blocked dismissal, blocked dismissal withonClose) andSheetFeature,SearchBar,TransactionView. 26 tests, 52 images, 402 pt at 3×, at the Large text size. Public API only.Package.swiftdoes not change, so dashwallet-ios resolves nothing new and the root build / API jobs fetch nothing new.SnapshotTests/Package.resolvedis the file Xcode 26.6 (CI) writes and pins every package CI builds: swift-snapshot-testing 1.19.6, swift-custom-dump 1.7.3, xctest-dynamic-overlay 1.13.1, swift-syntax 604.0.0. The resolve step fails when the file is not what the CI Xcode resolves (a version change, or any edit toSnapshotTests/Package.swift) and prints the file to commit. A local Xcode 27 resolves differently (it namesswift-issue-reporting2.x instead ofxctest-dynamic-overlay) and rewrites the file; that change is not committed. The package clones are cached per Xcode version.ReferenceEnvironmentnames it: the simulator runtime's version and build (26.5 (23F77)), an iPhone, left-to-right text, and how the locale writes 1234.5. The device model is not part of it (width and scale are fixed); CI runs on theiPhone 17simulator by name. Anywhere else the tests are skipped with a message; on CI a mismatch fails (SNAPSHOT_REQUIRE_REFERENCE_ENVIRONMENT=1), and so does a run whose lastExecuted … testsline reports no tests or a skipped one. Tolerance: every pixel checked, ΔE ≤ 2 (perceptualPrecision: 0.98).Snapshot tests (iOS Simulator)renders the PR head (the job summary says so) withSNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORD=failed: a missing or changed reference is rewritten and the test still fails; the job uploads the whole__Snapshots__folder as the artifactsnapshotswhen something was re-recorded..github/scripts/fetch-snapshots.shtakes the newest finished run ofHEADwhose snapshot job ran, refuses on uncommitted changes, and swaps the folder in after the download; review, commit, push.SNAPSHOT_TESTING_RECORDthe helper passesrecord: .never, so a localSNAPSHOT_FORCE=1run never writes a reference.DashButtontintedWhite/plainWhite: their light and dark images are identical today, but every colour involved has its own dark variant in the catalog, so the dark reference stays as the guard on those.docs/snapshot-tests.md, a section inCLAUDE.md, a link indocs/README.md.Font.system(size:), so a larger size renders the same pixels.Merged since this PR opened: #31 (SearchBar), re-recorded here; #32 and #41 changed no covered pixels. Still in flight and needing a re-record if they move pixels: #43 (deprecated APIs), #44 (BottomSheet) and the open component PRs. For each: merge
master, push, wait for the red snapshot job, run.github/scripts/fetch-snapshots.sh, check the images, commit.How Has This Been Tested?
Locally (Xcode 27.1):
DashButton's large horizontal padding fails the DashButton tests against the CI references; reverted.SNAPSHOT_FORCE=1with a reference removed: the test fails with "New snapshot was not recorded because recording is disabled", and no image is written.fetch-snapshots.shrun against this PR's real runs: on0d8ed86it installed the recorded set; on048d516it reported that the snapshot job passed and there was nothing to fetch.conventions.sh,shellcheckandactionlintclean;/code-review highuntil only small findings remained, all fixed.On CI (this PR): the first run recorded all 48 images on iOS 26.5 (23F77), iPhone 17, and failed as designed;
fetch-snapshots.shinstalled them (048d516), and the next run compared all 24 tests with no skips and passed. The resolve guard failed once as designed and printed the Xcode 26.6Package.resolved, which is now committed. Not exercised on CI: a deliberate visual change failing the job (verified locally against the CI references).Things the images show that this PR does not change:
strokeGraybutton text is nearly invisible in dark, the SearchBar placeholder is very faint in dark, the grouped-set icon inTransactionViewis white on the light background, and theinfonavigation button looks clipped on its trailing edge.Before / After
